With funding from Amos Lodge No. 10 of St. John River City, Grand Bassa County, KEEP completely rehabilitated and furnished a Reading Room at the St. John River Public school.
The room has been named the James E. Pierre Reading Room in honor of Cllr. James E. Pierre, Immediate Past Grand Master Pierre of the Masons of Liberia and as dedicated on April 13, 2019.
The brethren of the Lodge also used the time to do other charitable donations to the school and community which included a brand new printer with extra ink and assorted stationery for the school as well as drugs, medical supplies and agricultural tools.
Making few remarks at the dedicatory ceremony, Worshipful Brother Edward L. Sharpe (32°) is always excited to partner with the KEEP on such initiatives and is proud particularly for this one as it directly impacts the younger generation of the St. John River vicinity where their lodge originated and is based.
The ribbon to the new room was ceremonially cut by Cllr. Pierre who noted that the room brought pride not only to his family because it is named in his honor, but also for the children of Liberia, particularly children of St. John River City who now have a modern reading room to enable them properly learn and study. Most Worshipful Brother Pierre congratulated Brethren of the Lodge for “doing good on to all”, a cornerstone of Freemasonry
Mrs. Brenda Brewer Moore, Executive Director of the KEEP praised Amos Lodge No. 10 for its continued support to the work of KEEP over the years and noted that the Lodge has been a strong committed partner through many initiatives. . She recounted several charity initiatives Amos Lodge No. 10 supported under KEEP’s stewardship.
Amos Lodge No. 10 is one of the 20 Lodges under the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Liberia under the current Grand Master George Edward Henries 33°. It was founded around 1912 and has contributed to the development of St. John River City and Grand Bassa County since its inception.
