One of KEEP’s core Pillars is “Promoting Computer Literacy”. Under this pillar, we provide basic computer literacy training to students from diverse social, geographic and economic backgrounds.
In 2020, KEEP Liberia set out to provide training to 250 students, however due to CODI19, we couldn’t. Putting in basic safety measures and with the donation of additional laptops, we have restarted our sessions and have plans to scale up in our counties of operations: Gbarpolu, Grand Gedeh, Rivercess and Montserrado.
In Rivercess County, KEEP has a Learning Resource Center which is equipped with 20 desk top computers while in Gbarpolu, trainings will take place at the Medina Public School Learning Resource Center.
In Montserrado, the trainings will take place across 3 locations: The Carlton Carr Memorial center, June Moore Public School and the A. Glenn Public School. Sessions will run at various schedules across these locations.
Each basic training session runs for 12 weeks, after which students are then “graduated” to an intermediary level.
Sessions will be led by a combination of volunteers, KEEP’s staff and peer-led by former students who graduated from the basic classes in 2019.
