KEEP Participates In 2 Week Training With Luminos Fund

 In preparation for the academic year 2023/2024, facilitators and supervisors from KEEP and other collaborating organizations participated in an intensive 2 week literacy and numeracy play based learning refresher training.

The training was conducted by Luminos Fund under its Second Chance Program.

The Second Chance program is an accelerated,  intensive, child-centered learning approach that reaches out to the most marginalized children denied education due to poverty, conflict, or discrimination.

In 10 months,  students learn reading, writing, arithmetic skills among others and transition from grades 1-4 into public schools.

The two-weeks training was conducted in Bomi and Bong counties at the KAVTC Campus clay and the Catholic Campus respectively from August 21, 2023 – Sept 2, 2024 and covered over 150 facilitators.

Thirty eight KEEP facilitators were trained in teaching modules, classroom management, child rights, gender response and abuse recognition, child protection, literacy , numeracy etc.

It has been one year since KEEP embarked on this journey with the Luminos Fund to promote literacy in disadvantaged communities in Gbarpolu and Montserrado counties. 2023 school year sees KEEP working with over 900 students.
