In March 2023, telecoms giant, Lonestar MTN launched a national awards project to recognize and motivate social entrepreneurs across the country who are making a social changes in their communities through health, education, youth development, women empowerment, and Tech solution.
The program was officially launched Tuesday, 28 March 2023 and was graced by several diplomatic partners, social media influencers as well as entertainment promoters, and integrity icons.
A total of 6000 nominations were received from across the country and 30 were initially shortlisted.
Final selection was made based on an evaluation of the work the organization does and public votes.
Judges included Nobel Peace Prize winner, Madam Leymah Gbowee, Hon. Dorbor Jallah, Chief Executive Officer of Kernel Fresh, Mahmud Johnson and Dr. Nicole Cooper, CEO Wellness Center Liberia.
The general public was invited to vote their favorite non profit to get to the next stage.
The initiative climaxed in July with 4life Zoe, a social enterprise operating Lofa County emerging the first place winner.
Coming second place was Lela Dolo of Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative taking second place and KEEP’s Executive Director, Mrs. Brenda Brewer Moore emerging as 3rd place winner.
