KEEP-Liberia hosted an exhilarating Spelling Bee competition, bringing together student representatives who are members of KEEP Liberia’s six reading clubs across Montserrado.
Accompanied by their reading club facilitators and chaperones, these bright minds gathered at KEEP’s reading room at the YWCA with determination and participated in the spelling bee competition, showcasing their exceptional spelling prowess.
Participants were students between the ages of 10-14 and are active members of KEEP’s reading clubs in their various schools as far as Goba Town Public School in Todee and Arthington Public school in Arthington, rural Montserrado.
The competition consisted of eight tedious rounds. These rounds challenged participants with words of increased difficult level of the competition. The final round narrowed down to few exceptional spellers and Veronica of Goba Town Public School emerged as the undisputed champion followed by second winner Younnah of June L Moore Public School and Bernice of June L. Moore Public School in third place.
The three winners received grand prizes of amazing board games, book bags, and books.
All participants received certificates and consolation prizes of books and bookbags at the end of the event to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.
The spelling Bee was a resounding success, highlighting the talents of the students and showcasing their commitment to academic excellence.
KEEP Liberia remains dedicated to nurturing and encouraging even more young wordsmiths, and committed to promoting literacy among students.
