On February 14, we took several students from two of our Reading Rooms on a field trip to the National Museum located on Broad Street, in Monrovia. During one of our reading sessions, we realized that none of the students had been to a museum. We figured it would be a great way to expand their understanding of the history and cultures of their country. The students were accompanied by teachers from their schools and we soon discovered that these teachers had also never visited a museum! During the visit, they learned about the various tribes, the artifacts housed in the museum, and various depictions of the country’s civil war, amongst other interesting historical facts. The field trip was climaxed with a trip to the ice-cream shop. |
