Kids’ Educational Engagement Project (KEEP), with the support of APM Terminals, dedicated a Reading Room at the Gabriel Kpoleh Public School located in New Georgia.
The room was formally opened by Hon. Harrison Darwolo, CEO for the Left Bank Educational District.
He was grateful that KEEP can dedicate its 22nd reading room after starting very small in 2014.
Mr. Darwolor said though KEEP started as a home study program during Ebola, it has transcended and giving back to society by developing reading rooms across Liberia.
“What makes you a student is your comprehension ability and it’s gained from reading. If you don’t go into the reading room and read, then the project will not be utilized and will not achieve its goal,” Mr. Darwolo said.
Mr. Darwolor assured KEEP’s Executive Director of the sustainability of the reading room and will ensure that the books be used for the intended purpose.
The school is located in the New Georgia estate community, Montserrado County, Monrovia and has a student population of 1,390 students (609 boys and 701 girls) with grades levels 1-12.
The creation of the room was made possible through the support of APM Terminals.
This brings to 22, the number of Reading Rooms KEEP Liberia has established in the last 5 years, across 9 counties.
