KEEP dedicates 36th Reading Room

On August 2, 2024, KEEP-Liberia dedicated its 36th Reading room in Bomi County. This is possible through a partnership with the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development.
This new KEEP-EJS reading room is at the Deadilah Public School in Bomi County.

This program brought together staff of KEEP, representatives of the EJS Presidential Center, MOE representatives, Deadilah School Administration, students, Elders, Parents, and Community members.

Madam Kou Moore, a representative for the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development applauded Madam Ellen Johnson for her work around education and working with women and children. She believes that as an educator and role model all around the world,
“President Sirleaf takes joy in positively impacting women and children,” she explained. With the establishment of the KEEP-EJS Center reading room in Deadilah, she urged the school to take ownership of the room and to effectively use the room for its intended purposes. She encouraged the children to visit the library, read, and be a part of the school’s reading club and all reading activities.

Mr. Holmes, principal of the Deadilah Public School, thanked Madam Sirleaf, KEEP-Liberia, and the Ministry of Education for such a laudable venture. He promised to carefully take good care of the room and that with the support of the school and community elders, much will be done around the promotion of reading at their school.

Special thanks to the EJS Center for partnerships such as these that contribute to the welfare of Liberian children.

KEEP-Liberia remains committed to providing various support in the education sector, particularly at the primary school level, and building a reading culture in Liberia, one reading room at a time.
